I write down on my calendar what we're having every night for dinner. We decided to make the change last year and I have an arsenal of about 40 recipes that are healthy and easy. As I write the recipes on my calendar, I know exactly what I'm going to buy for dinner. I also buy in bulk--so I have chopped up chicken in the freezer that I prepared when chicken was cheap(several bags!) I pre-prepare sauces, vegetables, etc, after the kids go to bed. That way I pull out some chicken, frozen stir-fry veggies and the sauce. It takes me 15 minutes to make dinner.

Great advice, Linda. When will you be in the ATL again? I need you to go through my kitchen!

I agree - if you can make a "date" with yourself and the grocery store, and a cup of coffee, and take the time to compare labels and make steps to "trade up" your snacks/go to purchase items, it will be eons easier next time you're at the store.

One more tip - if I know I have a crazy day/week coming up, I'll make a double recipe of dinner one night, stick it in the freezer, and make sure to take it out the morning of said crazy day. That way we have a healthy, tasty dinner ready to go with no thought or cooking required.

All I have to say is that I couldn't do it with out Trader Joe's!
