It's that time of year again when those of us with closely-spaced children attempt to "put on" Christmas and put up the tree. What was once a cherished and festive ritual may now cause some angst as you imagine adding twinkly lights, glass ornaments and extra chewy pine needles to your living room decor.
We're over at The Washington Times today with tips on decorating your Christmas tree with your Bunch.
We opted to put up a toy decorated tree in my 19 month old's room. That way, he can put on and take off as many decorations as he wants, no harm done. Inevitably, the bottom has become completely bare, just like you said. In the living room, I'm not even fighting the battle, we opted for lots of white lights and that's it.

We put our "Superyard" (gated system) around the tree and it worked like a charm.
