As I unloaded the dishwasher this afternoon, I found myself negotiating with my daughter: "Sit down and eat your food. If you get up from the table again, I will assume you're done, and take your plate away."
I stop. Look up. And laugh.
Didn't I just say. Didn't I just have this discussion already? Ahhhh, yes. A year ago when my son was about the same age, we did have this same argument. Up and down from the table. Negotiating food and being seated and acting like a normal person.
I have found myself repeating the same sentences over and over again but to a different child a year later. The thing about Baby Bunching is you will find yourself right back in the same place again.
Sleep training. Yep. Potty training. Check. Starting solid foods. Of course. Biting. Yep. (May you be so fortunate to never have this problem.) Moving to a big bed. Sure. Time Outs. Probably. Begging your child to "use his words" or "not grunt for something." Yep. Everything you did with your first, will be done all over again a year or 18 months from the first time. You think it's part of your past when your older child finally learns that he must stay in his bed. But I assure you, you'll probably be right back there again with your own bit of deja' vu.
We're in the midst of potty training with our 2nd child, a 2.5 year old little girl (our oldest son is 8 years old, and younger son is only 10 months old). Hubby was buying those plastic underpants to go over the training underwear, but they only had the 'boy' patterned ones. I told him to just get them anyway, and I'd pass them on to a friend who has a 5 month old son after we were done. My husband so kindly reminded me that we'll actually be needing them for our own youngest son, and then it hit me-- I'll have to do this all over again in 18+ months. AAAAHHHH!!

Ack, potty training. My husband and I hope there's some magic potty training fairy that is going to show up and do it for us. Seriously, not looking forward to it.
Our second is so much easier than our first, I think it's because we've been through it before and know a little more about how to do it. I'm still dreading the potty training for two kids.
